Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition

The 53rd Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition opens on June 7 and runs through November 22, 2009. The Biennale is titled Fare Mondi or Making Worlds. Daniel Birnbaum, director of the Exhibition, explains the name. "The title of the exhibition expresses my wish to emphasize the process of creation. A work of art represents a vision of the world and if taken seriously it can be seen as a way of making a world." More than 90 artists and a record 77 countries are represented at venues across the city of Venice.

Cy Twombly at Art Institute of Chicago

The Art Institute of Chicago will open the Abbott Galleries in its new Renzo Piano-designed Modern Wing with a selection of work by Cy Twombly. Cy Twombly: The Natural World, Selected Works 2000-2007 will be on view from May 16 - September 13, 2009.
