Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas

Giacometti figures at the Nasher
Dallas, Texas

[From Spring-Summer 2008]
As dusk settles over the outdoor garden at the Nasher Sculpture Center on a fall evening, luminous scarlet light from a James Turrell installation casts a warm glow over a nearby Rodin figure. Live contemporary jazz plays under the stars, accompanied by cocktails and dinners courtesy of Wolfgang Puck. The Nasher Sculpture Center is Raymond and Patsy Nasher’s extraordinary gift to Dallas, and to anyone fortunate enough to come upon this striking space.

The outdoor urban garden boasts classical and contemporary sculpture by Moore, Lachaise, Picasso, Turrell, Rodin and Lichenstein, among others. An elegant and spare interior gallery displays Calder mobiles, Giacometti figures and a whimsical (and enormous) Claes Oldenburg typewriter eraser.

This spring and summer, the Nasher hosts its Saturday Night in the City: Garden Concert Series. On Sunday afternoons, enjoy brunch and the Dallas Symphony.
Details: The Nasher is located downtown in the Dallas Arts District. Educational, social and musical events are held throughout the year. For more information about the Center and for a calendar of events, please go to www.nashersculpturecenter.org
