Newcomb Gallery of Art in New Orleans Features Recent Works from Cuba

"Polaridad Complementaria: Recent Works from Cuba"

The Newcomb Gallery of Art on the Tulane University campus will feature an exhibition of more than 50 works of painting, sculpture, drawing, video and photography by 27 Cuban artists. Developed by the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Wifredo Lam in Havana, Polaridad Complementaria reveals the concepts and aesthetics characterizing Cuban art today.

Among the artists represented: René Peña, Abel Barroso, Aimeé García, Yoan Capote, and Roberto Fabelo. As part of the exhibition, the gallery will collaborate with the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Latin American Library at Tulane, the Stone Center for Latin American Studies, the Center for Cuban and Caribbean Studies, and the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery to present a series of additional programs and exhibitions on Cuban arts and culture.
